Celebrating 8 years of Freedom Works: A journey of growth, innovation, and community
Cue the confetti! Freedom Works Ltd is officially 8 years old – and what a journey it’s been! From our humble beginnings as a cosy coworking space, we’ve evolved into a dynamic, community-powered enterprise. These past eight years have been filled with creativity, collaboration, and some seriously exciting milestones – and we’re only just getting started.
Flashback to the beginning
Picture this: it’s September 2016. We open our doors in Worthing with just 5,000 square feet and a handful of adventurous members. Our mission? To create flexible, affordable workspaces for freelancers, creatives, and independent professionals ready to make their mark. Simple, right?
Fast forward to September 2024, and things look a little different. We’ve grown to over 120,000 square feet and weathered everything from a global pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis – not to mention seeing five Prime Ministers come and go! Through it all, our passion for building spaces where businesses thrive has remained rock-solid. Today, we’re a buzzing hub of ideas, connections, and business growth.
Our community: The magic ingredient
Here’s the thing: we’ve got top-notch facilities and business services – but it’s our incredible community that makes us who we are. The freelancers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and creatives who fill our spaces bring infectious energy and passion.
Over the years, we’ve watched members grow from solo ventures into thriving businesses, with collaborations and partnerships forming right under our roof. It’s all about teamwork, shared ideas, and those “aha!” moments that happen when creative minds come together.
What we’ve achieved (so far!)
The last eight years have been packed with milestones we’re incredibly proud of. A few highlights:
- We’ve grown – a lot! From our first little space in Worthing, we’ve expanded to nine locations across the South of England, now offering 120,000 square feet of flexible, affordable workspace.
- Our community rocks: With 4,500 active members, we’re more than just desks and Wi-Fi. We’re a space where connections spark, partnerships form, and businesses take flight. As we like to say: “We’re not just a roof over your head – we’re your launchpad!”
- Meaningful business support: In partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs, we offer high-impact mentorship, business advice, and networking opportunities. We’ve hosted over 200 workshops and events to help our members learn, connect, and grow.
- Sustainability matters: We’re proud to champion eco-friendly practices. From green workspaces to recycling initiatives and community campaigns, we’re committed to building a more sustainable future.
What’s next?
The future? It’s looking bright. With an estimated 5 million people expected to use coworking spaces globally by 2025, we’re ready to grow even more.
In the next two years, we plan to add another 50,000 to 75,000 square feet across the South of England. And our longer-term mission? To support 10,000 freelancers and businesses over the next eight years. We’ll continue to innovate, champion sustainability, and keep the atmosphere vibrant and collaborative.
